Three Select Sires Now Excellent, BLITZ Up for Committee

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, October 7, 2008 — Select Sires had an outstanding classification day last week with three lineup sires scoring Excellent for the first time, four more raised in score and 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET nominated for committee.

Currently classified Excellent (94), BLITZ still turns heads at 12-years-old. He is the customer-satisfaction specialist, having sold more than 1.3 million units of semen throughout the world. With daughters known for combining type that lasts with elite milk production, BLITZ is leaving his legacy in the Holstein breed as the sire of outstanding sons and bull mothers.

First-Time Excellent Sires
7HO8245 Sandy-Valley BUSHMAN-ET was raised three points to Excellent (90). BUSHMAN pays the bills with exceptional Net Merit, Milk yield and components. His daughters endure with excellent feet and legs, strong fore udder attachment and high and wide rear udders. Also raised to Excellent (90) was 7HO7653 Plain-O Durham ROSS-331-ET. ROSS is a Type specialist at +3.24 and ranks third in Canada for conformation. He sires tall daughters with an uphill run that track correctly with breed-leading udder cleft. ROSS provides calving ease and has gender SELECTed™ semen available. 7HO8170 Ensenada Champion PAT-ET is now classified Excellent (90). This HealthMark™ and Calving-Ease sire transmits the type traits that correlate to longevity, making him a Herdlife Builder™ with +3.9 Productive Life.

More Lineup Sires Raised in Score
7HO7858 Rauscher Mars 999-GRAND-ET was raised a point to Excellent (94). GRAND is a Superior Settler™ that also carries the Calving-Ease designation. He advances all frame traits and is a breed-leading foot-and-leg improver. A Herdlife Builder with gender SELECTed semen available, GRAND produces heifers that last.

Three August releases were raised in score, including 7HO8190 Gen-Mark Stmatic SANCHEZ. The highest Type bull at Select Sires (+3.86 Type), SANCHEZ was raised to Excellent (92). He offers all four composites over +3.00 and boasts a flawless linear. He will be in great demand for any breeder emphasizing conformation that lasts in the herd or wins in the show ring.

Now classified Excellent (91), new release 7HO8165 England-Ammon MILLION-ET is a high-ranking TPI™ sire (+1905 TPI), standing among the top-15 in the breed. This Herdlife Builder and HealthMark sire combines production with elite Type (+3.04), excels in health traits and stands out at 7% Calving Ease. Also a Superior Settler, MILLION is sure to be a popular choice for embryos and as a sire of sons. MILLION is available with gender SELECTed semen.

7HO8368 Lylehaven LIGHTNING continues to create excitement and is now scored Excellent (91). He debuted in August as the No. 8 LPI bull in Canada with extremely favorable components (+.05% Protein and +.18% Fat). A Superior Settler, LIGHTNING offers Calving Ease and sires a consistent pattern of tall, stylish cows that are ready for the show ring with a sweeping rib cage and neat tail setting.
