Select Sires: The Source for Type that Lasts
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, September 5, 2008 — Select Sires’ lineup leads the industry for type with four sires that rank among the top-10 active-A.I. Holsteins. In addition, Select is home to nine more sires that score +3.00 or higher for PTA Type and an amazing 38 sires that score +1700 or better for Total Performance Index™ (TPI™).

New graduate 7HO8190 Gen-Mark Stmatic SANCHEZ is Select’s new leader for Type, standing third in the breed at +3.86. This all-around type improver scores above +3.00 for all composites. His daughters exhibit excellent front ends and strong fore udders with tremendous rear udder height and width. SANCHEZ also stands among Select’s elite sires for TPI at +1759.
7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION stands third in the breed for Type (+3.75) and among the top-10 for FLC (+3.79). DAMION is a Showcase Selections™ sire and he produces daughters with stylish front ends that track correctly on exceptional feet and legs. He carries the HealthMark™ designation due to his exceptional health traits, particularly Daughter Pregnancy Rate (+0.8). DAMION offers calving ease (7% CE) yet transmits favorable strength (+3.02).
Ranking sixth among Holsteins for Type (+3.60) and second for FLC (+4.04) is 7HO8090 Pine-Shelter LARAMEE Mor-ET. LARAMEE tops Select’s lineup for many traits, including body depth (+4.34), rump angle (+1.00), foot angle (+5.43) and strength (+5.05).

ADVENT-RED added nearly 500 classified daughters to his genetic evaluation in August and boasts +3.48 Type and +3.27 UDC. Select’s total performance improvers include calving-ease sire 7HO8081 Ensenada Taboo PLANET-ET, who stands second in the breed at +2111 TPI. This Superior Settler also tops the breed for Protein (+84), ranks second in the breed for Milk (+3,024) and offers exceptional Fat yield (+86).
7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET is the No. 3 sire for TPI at +2052. O MAN leads the breed for Net Merit (+$782) – a feat he has now achieved each and every sire summary for the past five years. A Superior Settler and HealthMark sire, O MAN transmits exceptional health traits (2.68 SCS, +6.2 PL and +2.5 DPR) and is the calving-ease authority at 3% CE.
