Minnesota Select Sires Communications Internship

Purpose:

Create a learning environment where current students can experience the communications functions and employee roles in our company. Activities will be based upon an introductory program followed by experience with our employees serving the communications needs of our company. Our intent is to provide interns with the knowledge they need to consider beginning their career in the AI industry.


Candidate Position Requirements:

  • Currently attending a 2 or 4 year college in Minnesota or surrounding states
    • (and a resident of MN, ND, SD, IA, WI when not at school)
  • Student should have completed their 1st year (2 year college) or 2nd year (4 year college) by the time the internship begins. (target start date of May 1st, 2019; with flexibility of when various schools dismiss for the summer)
  • Major in communications, or in dairy and animal science with a communications focus, or in a related area of study
  • Must have strong writing skills and be detail oriented
  • Must have completed basic journalism and/or public relations coursework; additional coursework in desktop publishing is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License


Activities to Include:

  • Write newsletter articles and customer testimonials which includes taking photos as needed
  • Coordinate logistics for special events
  • Assist with desktop publishing projects, such as preparing advertisements, social media posts, brochures and flyers
  • Perform clerical duties, such as photocopying, collating mailings and filing
  • Assist other departments under direction of supervisor

Position Includes:

• Monthly salary, paid expenses while traveling, Select Sires apparel. Living arrangements are your responsibility within reasonable driving distance to the office (<30 minutes)
